Bag listings use a handful of names for overlapping shapes. The one Sugargoo buyers search most is "messenger bag" — in practice, a flap or zip bag on a long strap worn across the body. Here's how the rest of the vocabulary maps:

Listing photos flatter proportions. A bag that looks roomy on a model may measure 20 cm across. Every listing has a size chart or a line of dimensions — compare it with a bag you own before buying.

• Hardware: zips, clasps and chain links in close-up. Colour should be even, edges clean.
• Stitching: straight lines and even spacing along handles and strap anchors, where bags fail first.
• Symmetry: a straight-on photo of the front shows whether panels and patterns line up.
• Inside: lining, pockets and any interior stamp or tag.
• Strap length: a photo with a tape measure beats any listing description.

Verdict: Photograph the bag the way you'll judge it: front-on, hardware close up, strap measured. If the QC set doesn't show it, ask before you approve.

How do you ship a bag through Sugargoo without paying for air?

How long should a messenger bag strap be?
