The short version
The UK is one of Sugargoo's cheapest and quickest destinations. UK Small Packet reaches Royal Mail in about 6–8 days for parcels up to 3 kg, and Sugargoo's own example priced 3 kg of clothing on its Royal Mail (PH) line at about $27.94. On tax, the rule to remember is £135: when the goods in one parcel are worth that or less there's no customs duty, and 20% VAT is charged at the point of sale — on tax-included lines, inside your freight. Above £135 the goods are assessed for duty and a courier may add a handling fee. The government plans to end this relief by October 2028 at the latest.

For most London buyers the choice is between UK Small Packet for anything under 3 kg and UK Tax-Free for heavier boxes. Because UK Small Packet charges actual weight, it's especially good for dense items — trainers without boxes, jeans, belts — where volumetric weight would otherwise push the price up.
Verdict: Under 3 kg: UK Small Packet. Over it: UK Tax-Free, or split into two small packets if that keeps each under £135.
The £135 rule and VAT on a Sugargoo parcel
The £135 test is about the value of goods in one consignment — for a Sugargoo haul, everything in one parcel. Freight and insurance aren't counted toward it, though VAT is charged on them.

That's why two parcels of £120 each usually cost less in total than one parcel of £240, even with a second packing fee of ¥8. Declare real values: under-declaring to stay under £135 risks the parcel being held. When the relief ends — GOV.UK says by October 2028 at the latest — expect duty on small parcels too, and the calculus will shift toward fewer, larger boxes.
Delivery in London
UK Small Packet parcels arrive with Royal Mail, which suits flats: a missed parcel goes to a local delivery office or can be redelivered, rather than bouncing between courier depots. A few London habits help:
- Write the flat number on the first address line.
- Add a UK mobile number so a courier on other lines can reach you.
- Be wary of texts demanding a customs fee. On a VAT-included line under £135 there shouldn't be one; if Royal Mail really wants a payment it will leave a grey fee-to-pay card, and you pay on its own site.

Cutting the cost of a UK haul
With the freight already low, the savings come from staying under the thresholds: under 3 kg for UK Small Packet and under £135 for duty. Remove shoe boxes, ask for vacuum packing on bulky knitwear, and use the rehearsal (¥18) if a parcel is close to 3 kg.
